Sarah + John

Shadow Creek Wedding – Purcellville, VA

Sarah and John were married on May 20th, 2018 at one of my SUPER fav wedding venues, Shadow Creek in Purcellville, Virginia.

Ever since Sarah and John’s engagement session at Great Falls in Northern Virginia (you can find that here), I just knew…I mean I *knew* their wedding day was going to be something else. Knowing the love these two shared just in front of me during their engagement photos…I couldn’t help but day dream of how many absolutely fuzzy good heart feels I would get when May 20th rolled around.

When I arrived Sarah was nothing short of calm, cool, and collected. I give a ton of props to her PRECIOUS bridal party and sweet Mama for that. Making her smile and laugh. Even standing close by as she read a letter John wrote to her just before the ceremony. *HAPPY TEARS* I mean, I am literally tearing up y’all just writing this! It was SUCH a good day. What made it even sweeter was John’s tears that flowed down his cheek as Sarah got closer and closer to him at the alter. Not a single soul was either not smiling or crying (or if you’re like me…BOTH)! It was just SO good!

Not only was the wedding day amazingly amazing on an emotional level, but on a design level too! These two have TASTE and Kari from Two River Events SERIOUSLY brought their vision to LIFE along side the GORGEOUS florals from Flowers by Lisa! I was in detail heaven. Ok, ok, if it couldn’t get any better than that, the dancing too y’all. The DJ. Incredible. A Just SUCH a good night!

Congratulations again you two!!! I just LOVE you both!!!

Their Love Story

When and where did you both meet?

We met Junior year of high school in Psychology class in Northern Virginia.

When did you know he was the one and vice versa?

Sarah:  I knew John was the one when we had the talk about staying together through college. I realized then that no matter how far away we were from each other, or how little we could see each other, I wanted to stay with him forever. I was just hoping and praying that he would want to do the same with me. Him going to a military college was scary and I didn’t think I’d see him until Thanksgiving break, but I had no doubt that if he wanted the same thing, I would do whatever it takes to stay with him through that journey. Fast forward four years, and he can come visit me almost every weekend!

John: I knew Sarah was the one during our big road trip to Iowa. We spent 18 hours in the car through the night. Usually people fight and get upset with each other during such a long ride. Sarah didn’t say a sideways word to me the whole time. I realized on that trip that she had the love and patience for me that I need in the woman who I will spend the rest of my life with. Also, I realized that even though I found her in the city, deep down inside she wants to be a country girl and farm with me. We spent a lot of quality time together on the farm, initially that was out of her comfort zone, but she grew to love the farm like I love the farm.

What is the one thing you both love each other the most for?

Sarah: I love John the most because he is so kind and caring not only to me, but to everyone he’s ever met.

John: I love Sarah because she is so level and patient, she will always be there for me no matter what.

How did he propose?

He proposed by taking me to Great Falls Park, where we used to go hiking in high school. He brought a picnic of our favorite food that he cooked himself, and after dinner, took me to a beautiful overlook. He told me to wait there and that he would be right back with dessert. He came back with a box made out of chocolate from our local chocolatier, got down on one knee, opened the box to find the ring inside, gave his speech, and asked me to marry him!
