- Katie and Will
A Roxabel Venue Wedding
Katie and Will were married on September 9th, 2017 at the GORGEOUS Roxabel Venue in Charlotte Court House, Virginia.
Where oh where do I begin?! How about almost TWO YEARS ago!!! Okay, not exactly two years, but just about give or take a few months. It’s INSANE to think how long ago Katie and Will’s engagement photos were (you can find those here) and how these two were just as in love then, as they were on this day, their wedding day. After taking Katie’s bridal portraits (you can find those here) I was ON EDGE waiting for their wedding day to arrive. I mean, is she not simply stunning in her Maggie Soretto gown? My goodness!
The wedding day started off so full of feelings of calm and sweet love. For those that don’t know, Katie’s father holds a very, very special part in her heart with his passing being on so many hearts on this day. Not only did Katie’s mother and brother make sure she was wrapped in the purest of love, but there were so many beautiful odes to his life throughout the wedding day itself that made everything extra…extra sweet and full of that love I speak of.
To know Katie is wrapped not only in the love of her family and friends, but to watch her gain her very best friend, was something that made your heart flutter watching and being a part of. Will, as she says, is a “big ol’ teddy bear” and isn’t that the truth?! They are each other’s other half and go together so beautifully just like the entire wedding day. Everything was so beautifully planned, and honestly I could go on and on about all of the details, and moments, but I will go ahead and let you keep scrolling because it’s worth seeing for yourself!
Their Love Story
When and where did you both meet?
We grew up together in the same neighborhood living only 5 miles apart. We went to church together and attended childhood events together. Never paid a lot of attention to each other and certainly did not know we would end up dating. Many years later, he saw me pumping gas and started texting me from that day. We ended up dating and having fun together and then it suddenly become much more serious.
I was working at Eden Jewelry and had been trying on the same ring for months. Wearing it around the store what seemed to be every week. He asked my maid of honor, Kandace, (which also worked with me) about helping him pick out the ring. She knew exactly which one I wanted. On Christmas Eve we both got off early and Kandace came to the house with me saying she wanted to just hang out for a few. After I took a shower for Christmas Eve dinner, he kept trying to get me in the living room. I kept saying “Will, hold on. Hold on, can’t this wait?”. Oops. When I finally got to the living room, he got down on one knee and proposed in front of the Christmas tree and of course Kandace caught it all on camera.
