Susie + Aaron

A Woodloch Resort Wedding – Hawley, PA

Susie and Aaron were married on September 28th, 2018 at the out of this world Woodloch Resort in Hawley, Pennsylvania.

AHHH!!! Is this real life?! I seriously cannot believe I am sharing Susie and Aaron’s WEDDING on my blog today!!! First of all, it feels literally just like yesterday that I met these two for the first time at their sweet friend’s (and couple of mine) wedding. This is totally when Susie and I became BFFS. She was just SO much fun all throughout the day, and gave the BEST speech I have ever heard. I remember her asking me to take a quick photo of her and her “boyfriend” and then rest was history!

Once Susie and Aaron got engaged, you better believe, Susie picked up that phone so fast and next thing I know we were taking their engagement photos (you can find those here). It was so crazy how everything came together for us to work together thanks to Brooke and Rob (mentioned above) and I even ended up photographing one of Susie and Aaron’s friend’s weddings too because of all of this! Shout out to Emily and Austin! Like…how COOL is that?! AND there’s a nifty photo of all of us at the very end of this post.

After the 8 hour drive (props to my handsome husband for driving me to and from) as soon as we pulled in to the resort…we were speechless! We knew exactly why these two picked such a magical place, and as you will read in their love story below, it’s the place they first met one another. The entire day was full of magic as I like to say, but seriously…it was an INCREDIBLE day and now Susie and Aaron are HUSBAND AND WIFE!!!!

Their Love Story

When and where did you both meet?

Aaron and I first saw each other at the Inn at Woodloch. I was dressed like a Dalmation and he was a prep chef in the kitchen. I never registered it but Aaron was determined to introduce himself and he tried for a couple summers. He would pick me up in the boat during water ski and make small talk, and I never even remembered it. He asked a mutual friend to have friends over and make sure that I was coming. When I got there, Aaron had scratched his cornea and spent the whole night in the bathroom and we still never met. A couple weeks later he asked my maid of honor, Laura Butler, to invite us to the same table at the Theme show. We sat across and barely said a word. Then we went for drinks after, and some guests asked us if we were dating and Aaron quickly told them we were engaged. We spent the rest of the night pretending to be engaged. After that, I could never forget Aaron.

When did you know he was the one and vice versa?

Susie: I think I knew Aaron was the one before he did. After we first starting dating, I knew I felt differently about him then anyone I had met before. It took a couple of tries dating to work it all out, but we always came back to each other. I think he knew when we both moved back to Woodloch and weren’t really speaking. He went out of his way to leave me notes and flowers until I finally admitted how much I missed him.

Aaron: I know Susie was the one before she even knew who I was (classic right?). I was about 15 working in the kitchen when Susie was walked through to go put on her oversized custom to great the guests. Before even speaking to her I knew Susie was the person I needed in my life. It took 7 years from when I first saw her to when I was finally able to have her in my life, forever and always.

What is the one thing you both love each other the most for?

Susie: There are so many things I love about Aaron. I love how determined and hard working he is. He has accomplished so much and gives everyday 110%. I always love how much fun he is. We are best friends, we goof around, we have inside jokes, and I never have to worry about if something will be fun with him by my side. He is kind to others when it isn’t always convenient to be kind. Lastly, he has always inspired me to grow as a person. He supports me in every challenge I face and he always tells me I can do anything that I try. He has made me a better person.

Aaron: The thing we love each other for the most is the fact that we have gone through so much together. From scrapping together cash to move to our first apartment together in Virginia to moving 4 more times within 3.5 years, we have tested each other and there is nothing we can’t get through with each.

How did he propose?

Her Version: Aaron took me to our favorite spot to drink coffee on the pier by the water. We would go there almost every weekend to drink coffee and sit with our feet hanging off. When I got up, he proposed. Then I found out he planned an entire day with my favorite things. It was the most special day of my life.

His Version: I brought Susie on a random lunch date. We went to a boutique pizza and wine shop that we had been wanting to go to. After lunch, we grabbed some coffees and went on our usual walk. We both sat down with our feet dangling over the water and watched the boats come and go for a while. Eventually, I was able to convince her to stand up so I could surprise her on my knee when she turned around. Even though Susie is a self-proclaimed “sleuth” I was able to sneak this one by her.
